Andrej Bielow

Born in Ukraine in 1981, Andrei Bielov received his first violin lessons at the age of five. His extraordinary talent quickly became apparent, so that Professor Michael Kuzniezow took him on and further encouraged him. After only a short period of teaching, Andrej Bielow appeared in public concerts.

As a soloist he has already performed with renowned orchestras all over the world, including the New Japan Philharmonic, Orchestra National de Radio France, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Sinfonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Deutsche Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. He has performed with renowned conductors such as Kurt Masur, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Gianandrea Noseda, Miguel Gomez-Martinez, Christian Arming, Agnieszka Duzcmal, Olari Elts, Mihkel Kütson, Junichi Hirokami and Christoph Poppen, to name but a few.

Andrej Bielow also devotes himself with preference to chamber music and always seeks the interplay with like-minded people. He is a sought-after guest at festivals such as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Music at Plush, Heidelberger Frühling and the Niedersächsische Musiktage. His chamber music partners include Severin von Eckardstein, Nicolas Alstaedt, Kit Armstrong, Christopher Glynn and Nils Mönckemeyer. At the Kronberg Academy he performed with Gidon Kremer, Juri Bashmet and the Beaux Arts Trio.

Andrej Bielow came to Germany at the age of 15 and studied with Prof. Krzysztof Wegrzyn at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover, where he also passed his concert exam in 2006. He received further musical impulses from Gerard Poulet at the Conservatoire Nationale Superieur-CNR Paris, from Herman Krebbers, Ida Haendel, Ana Chumachenko and Benjamin Schmid.

Andrei Bielov is a laureate of the international competitions Long Thibaud Paris (2002), Joseph Joachim Hannover (2000) and ARD Munich (1999). Over 20 CD albums have been released on Hyperion, Naxos, CPO, Avi Music, Solo Musica, Guttingi, Castor, Hänsler Profil, Hännsler Classic and Rekete Medien.

From 2005 to 2014 he was primarius of the renowned Szymanowski Quartet and at the same time lecturer in violin at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover. In addition, he has been a “Visiting Teacher” at the Royal Academy of Music in London from 2013, Professor of Violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz since 2014, and conducts master classes in Europe, USA and Asia.
